Our Commitment to You

VitalBloom exists to make trustworthy health information freely available to everyone. This editorial policy is our public commitment to the standards that guide every piece of content we publish.

๐ŸŽฏ

Our Editorial Mission

VitalBloom's mission is simple: provide accurate, accessible, and actionable health and wellness information that helps people make better decisions about their bodies and minds.

We believe that good health information should be free. It should be written by qualified experts, grounded in current scientific evidence, and presented in a way that treats readers as intelligent adults โ€” not passive recipients of generic advice.

Everything we publish is guided by three core editorial principles:

  • Accuracy first: We never publish a claim we cannot substantiate with credible, current evidence. Accuracy takes priority over speed, traffic, or trend-chasing.
  • Full transparency: We disclose our sources, our experts, our commercial relationships, and our limitations. Readers should always know who wrote an article, why, and what it is and is not based on.
  • Genuine usefulness: Our goal is to help readers take informed action โ€” not to generate pageviews, create anxiety, or push products.
๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ

Editorial Independence

VitalBloom maintains a strict separation between our editorial team and our commercial and advertising operations. This means:

๐Ÿšซ

No paid editorial coverage

Advertisers and sponsors cannot pay to have products or brands featured positively in editorial content. No exceptions.

๐Ÿšซ

No undisclosed relationships

Any financial relationship between VitalBloom and a brand mentioned in an article is clearly disclosed to the reader.

๐Ÿšซ

No suppressed negative findings

If evidence shows a popular product or approach is ineffective or harmful, we publish that finding regardless of commercial considerations.

โœ…

Editors have final say

Our editorial team has absolute final authority over all published content. Commercial teams have no right of review or approval over editorial.

Our Medical Review Board operates completely independently from the editorial team and has no commercial responsibilities whatsoever.

The Review Process

Every article published on VitalBloom passes through a mandatory multi-stage review process before going live. No article bypasses this workflow regardless of author seniority.

1

Step 1: Expert Authoring

A qualified expert writes the article, selecting and citing credible sources throughout. Authors are responsible for the factual accuracy of their drafts.

2

Step 2: Self-Review & Source Check

The author completes a self-review checklist: verifying every cited source is current (within 5 years where possible), peer-reviewed, and accurately represented.

3

Step 3: Independent Medical Review

A second qualified expert โ€” ideally an MD or specialist in the relevant field โ€” independently reviews the article for clinical accuracy, safety, and completeness. Reviewers have the authority to block publication until concerns are resolved.

4

Step 4: Editorial Review

A senior editor reviews the article for clarity, accessibility, logical structure, and tone. Editors may request rewrites for readability but cannot override the medical review.

5

Step 5: Final Fact-Check

An editorial assistant independently verifies statistics, quotes, and specific claims against their primary sources before the article goes to publication.

6

Step 6: Publication

The article is published with a clear author byline, reviewer credit, publication date, and โ€” where applicable โ€” last-reviewed date displayed prominently.

โฑ๏ธ

Review timeline: The full review process typically takes 5โ€“10 business days. We prioritise accuracy over publishing speed. Breaking health news may be published faster with an explicit note that the article is pending full review.

๐Ÿ“š

Source Standards

VitalBloom holds all cited sources to strict quality criteria. We give preference to evidence in the following order:

Tier 1 โ€“ Preferred

  • Systematic reviews and meta-analyses (Cochrane, JAMA, NEJM)
  • Randomised controlled trials (RCTs)
  • Large-scale prospective cohort studies
  • Clinical guidelines from recognised medical bodies (WHO, NHS, AHA, CDC)

Tier 2 โ€“ Acceptable

  • Peer-reviewed observational studies
  • Peer-reviewed animal studies (clearly noted as such)
  • Expert consensus statements
  • Government health agency data and reports

Tier 3 โ€“ Supporting only

  • Expert interviews (used to contextualise, not as primary evidence)
  • Reputable health organisation websites (Mayo Clinic, WebMD) for general reference
  • Historical or descriptive data
๐Ÿšซ

Sources we do not accept

Anonymous blogs, press releases from supplement companies, social media posts, non-peer-reviewed preprints as primary evidence, or testimonials as factual claims.

All sources are linked inline within articles so readers can access the primary evidence directly. Where a source is behind a paywall, we cite the abstract and note the restriction.

Corrections & Updates

Health science evolves. Our understanding of nutrition, exercise, and medicine changes as new research emerges. Our corrections and update policy ensures our content reflects the best available evidence at all times.

๐Ÿฉน

Minor Corrections

Typos, broken links, or minor factual errors (e.g., wrong date) are corrected silently with no notice required.

๐Ÿ“

Factual Updates

When new evidence changes a recommendation or fact, the article is updated and a "Last Reviewed" date is updated. A correction note is appended.

โš ๏ธ

Significant Corrections

If a material error that could affect reader health decisions is found, we publish a visible correction notice, update the content, and notify subscribers where possible.

Annual Content Audit

All articles are reviewed by the original author or a replacement expert at least once every 12 months. During this audit, we assess whether: newer studies have superseded cited sources; clinical guidelines have been updated; statistical data needs refreshing; the article's overall conclusion remains supported by current evidence.

Articles that pass the audit receive an updated "Last Reviewed" date. Articles that fail are either substantially rewritten or retired with a notice explaining why.

๐Ÿ“ข

Advertising & Sponsorship

VitalBloom is supported by display advertising (including Google AdSense), sponsored content, and affiliate partnerships. Our ability to fund quality health journalism depends on this commercial activity.

However, commercial activity never influences editorial content. Specifically:

  • Display advertisements are served programmatically and are not endorsements of the advertised products or services.
  • Sponsored content (articles paid for by a brand) is always clearly labelled "Sponsored" or "Paid Partnership" at the top of the article.
  • Brands cannot purchase positive editorial coverage, influence article topics, or request edits to non-sponsored articles.
  • We reserve the right to decline advertising from brands whose products or practices conflict with our health and wellness values.
  • Our editorial team is not informed of the identity of current advertisers and makes recommendations without knowledge of commercial relationships.

Affiliate Disclosure

๐Ÿ’ก

Some articles on VitalBloom contain affiliate links. This means we may earn a small commission if you click a link and make a purchase. This comes at no extra cost to you.

Our affiliate policy is governed by the following rules:

  • Products are only recommended if they genuinely meet the editorial standard and would be recommended regardless of affiliate status.
  • Articles containing affiliate links display a clear disclosure notice at or near the top of the content.
  • We do not rank or prioritise products based on affiliate commission rates.
  • Affiliate relationships do not influence clinical recommendations or safety information.
  • We comply fully with FTC guidelines on endorsements and testimonials.

AI & Technology Policy

We are transparent about the role of AI tools in our editorial workflow:

โœ…

Acceptable AI use

  • Summarising research for author briefing packs
  • Grammar and spell-checking assistance
  • SEO title and metadata suggestions (reviewed by editors)
  • Data visualisation and formatting tools
๐Ÿšซ

Prohibited AI use

  • Generating health articles without expert authoring
  • Replacing the medical review process
  • Creating citations or fabricating research references
  • Publishing AI-generated content without full expert oversight and disclosure

Any article that uses AI assistance in its drafting process is clearly labelled. Human experts are always responsible for the final content, accuracy, and clinical advice.
